Welcome to A Year of Making a Difference and my theme for 2013 — A Year of Rejoicing!

This site came to be in January 2012 when I resigned my position as Director, Public Relations and Volunteer Services at Canada’s largest homeless shelter. It was a position I had held for almost six years. It was a job I loved and a place I held close to my heart. But, it was also time to move on. Time to spread my wings beyond the world of homelessness where people connected through the pain of the condition called, ‘homeless’ to explore the world through connecting to the promise of what can be when we live beyond the labels that define us.

Working at a shelter, it’s easy to make a difference every day.

Leaving it, I wondered, how will I make a difference every day? Because making a difference in my world is important to me and for me.

.And thus, this site was born. Every day throughout 2012 I cam here and wrote about what I did that day to make a difference, what I experienced that made a difference in  my life or people I met who were making a difference.

And in the process, I became conscious of choosing to be, as Ghandi encouraged, the difference I want to be in the world.

In its second year, making a difference continues to be theme of what I do, who I am, and how I am in the world. In 2013 the focus however, is on my word for the year — Rejoice.

And thus, this year is all about what it means to celebrate, me, the world around me, the people in my world and those who make such a difference in our world.
